3 Inspirational Women in Tech

Role models are so important. Especially when it comes to spaces that may have not been historically very diverse or inclusive. Technology is one of those spaces- fortunately, there are so many amazing women out there creating content to help empower and enable everyone to fulfil their potential within the tech field. Here are a few are my favourite inspirational women in the tech:

Bukola Ayodele

My go-to girl when I was deciding whether to study Computer Science was definitely Bukola. Bukola’s YouTube channel The Come Up was so informative without being overly technical and dull. Her chatty videos explain how she became a software engineer without doing a CS degree, providing insight into other avenues and options apart from formal education. Bukola also creates fun ‘Code With Me’ videos, where she builds programs that do useful stuff like automating your Spotfiy! Not to mention, she also featured on a Millennial Money episode that revealed her insane financial management techniques (link to the video here). This girl is goals in so many ways!

Ania Kubów

I came across Ania whilst attending the FemTechConf a few months ago, and she gave a really fun presentation on how to approach building a game using JavaScript. Ania broke this down in such a way that you didn’t need to know how to code to understand her- she focused on how to approach the task and break it down into manageable chunks (which is often half the problem within programming). Ania posts tutorials regularly on her YouTube channel, so if you want to build some fun retro games, definitely check her out!

Melanie Perkins

Melanie is the co-founder and CEO of one of my all-time favourite tools- Canva. If like me, your work involves making seemingly endless amounts of PowerPoint presentations, the joy of being able to turn a dreary set of slides into a sleek colour coordinated deck is priceless. Melanie disrupted the market and managed to become one of tech’s youngest female CEO’s, at only 30! Making design accessible to everyone in one solid platform has gained her a place as one of the most influential women in tech.
